Hymns of Peace

If you're looking for resources for Remembrance Day, Jubilate has released a collection of ten new hymns, written in 2018, to mark the centenary of Armistice Day and the end of the First World War.

The Hymns of Peace collection is the result of a competition run by Jubilate and features the winning hymn, Hope for the World's Despair by Ally Barrett, accompanied by other shortlisted entries. A recording has been made of the winning entry, featuring Jonathan Veira and the All Souls Orchestra. An animated video has been made to accompany it, which can be used in church services. View this video and purchase the collection in book or PDF form at

The Hymns of  Peace project was supported by the Pratt Green Trust and Hymns Ancient & Modern.

19 November 2018: World Toilet Day

For World Toilet Day this year (19 November), Toilet Twinning is planning a 'Big Squat' campaign event on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral.

They'll be inviting prominent women from across the UK to stand in solidarity with the one billion women worldwide who still don't have a loo - as women have the most to gain from having a proper toilet. They hope the event, starting at 1pm, will involve lots of toilets - including one giant inflatable!
