For the common good: Individual gifts in the context of community
Laura Wild explores the communal nature of spiritual gifts
“Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit...” (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
I HAVE LONG HELD THAT CAREERS FAIRS, whether in schools, universities or the wider community, should host a
’vocations table’ at the entrance. Not recruiting to religious vocations necessarily – rather to give space and context from the starting point of individual vocation; doing what we are designed for. Perhaps each participant could be given a simple white pebble to pocket as they explore. The imagery in Revelation 2:17b, ‘I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it’, speaks of finding our true identity in God.
