WHAT DOES IT MEAN to be human? We begin as tiny babies, relying on others. In old age we may end our time on this earth in a way that reinforces our dependency once again. In truth we are never fully independent.
In 1998, Michael Mayne, formerly Dean of Westminster Abbey, published a Lent Book called Pray, Love, Remember. Moving around the various Abbey spaces, he explores what it means to be a human being. He describes the very human ministry of the Abbey to the huge variety of individuals and groups who cross its threshold. They bring their frailties, joys, sorrows, successes and failures. That ministry was all about relationship.
