I STARED AT the text in front of me. Suddenly, everything made sense. For years I had been studying Old Testament laws alongside the words of Jesus in my ongoing efforts to work out what the ‘Big Idea’ was. I wanted to offer Christian values as the answer to society’s problems at public policy level, but needed to present it – whatever ‘it’ was – in language that would be acceptable to a secular audience.
