David Leese explains how magic can illustrate Christian faith
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO, I took part in a Christian cabaret evening. One of my fellow performers introduced himself as a Gospel Magician. Through him the gospel was presented to an all-age audience in a visually compelling, fun, and purposeful way. I knew that I needed to do this too, and my only reason for using these so-called magic tricks was then, and is today to present the Christian gospel of God’s love, and new life through Jesus Christ. Such presentations are inevitably entertaining but firstly we are evangelists – any entertainment is secondary to the message.
