Christian dance is as varied as the styles and cultures that use it. To explore this diverse subject, let’s look at the why, how and what next.
Why dance? People dance because they enjoy it; for some, it is a way to express their faith. As Christians we have a biblical basis for this. The Bible is full of dance, particularly in the Old Testament. Psalm150:4 tells us to ‘Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!’ This shows that it was normal for the Israelites to dance in worship.
