I HAVE WORKED FOR PRIVATE COMPANIES as a professional probate genealogist, or ‘Heir Hunter’ since the mid 1990s. My job involves locating the closest kin entitled to the estate of a family member who has died without a valid will. I use family history websites to build the family tree and then other online resources to locate the current address of the person or people entitled. I then contact, or sometimes visit, those people entitled to the inheritance. My involvement with the beneficiary is from the start to the end, when they receive their money.
