Justice and peace

Richard Harries explores the inseparable link between faith and action in Roman Catholic tradition and teaching

Justice and peace

Christian yearning for justice has deep roots in the practical and the prophetic. Micah, writing in the eighth century BC, stressed that true worship must be accompanied by a commitment to justice and mercy: ‘What does the LORD require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?’ (Micah 6:8). This recognition that our faith cannot be separated from our actions has echoed down the centuries.
