Introducing Margaret Collins
Ali Green asks our new editor about
her home life and her reasons for
joining the magnet team
Could you tell us about living on a farm?
Our Wiltshire farm lies among rolling fields
and big skies, with cattle roaming over
permanent downland, full of wildflowers. I
have a large grass yard by my kitchen with
free-range geese, chickens and ducks. We
eat their eggs or enjoy watching the chicks
grow. The farm can be very busy, but in
mid-winter it is quieter, with the cattle to
look after in their warm shed.
How do you manage your
work/life balance?
I was a vet who retrained as a ‘healing laser’
therapist for humans, and I am ordained in
the Church of England. I am continually
trying to get the balance right, but I have
become better at prioritising my time off.
What do you do for relaxation?
I pray, sometimes with singing, often while
walking on the farm, I work out and do
Pilates. I like anything creative and have just
finished a year-long cross stitch. My husband
and I grow lots of fruit and vegetables, we
freeze or pickle the excess that we cannot
give away.
What drew you to magnet?
The Meditation pages attracted me. I pull
them out and spend time diving into them.
As a voluntary editor, I love the creative
outlet in words and images and enjoy
reading about other creative people.
