IN 2014, LIZ PINKNEY, A MEMBER of Alsager Community Church envisaged a community support centre in a small Cheshire town, so that residents could access information, advice and support. With help from church trustees, she applied for grants to make this vision possible. Alsager no longer had visits from the nearest Citizens Advice Bureau or any type of information service. Residents had to travel. Those without internet access were particularly disadvantaged. Liz rallied people, found the money and bought a modular building to site behind her church.
