Our faithful friends

Janice Tindale outlines a pet service with the theme of faithfulness and trust

Our faithful friends ISTOCK

Preparation:

  • Contact a blind person with a guide dog, a police dog handler or other working dog owner who is happy to bring their dog and talk in church or answer questions.
  • Provision must be made (e.g, plastic matting) if the pets are coming into a carpeted building.
  • If holding the service outdoors, a good public address system is required.
  • The songs are suggestions. If you advertise your service in the schools, it is useful to ask which songs the children have learned for assemblies and include something they know. The words in bold are for everyone to say.
