I GREW UP IN A CONSERVATIVE EVANGELICAL CHURCH gaining early Bible knowledge through flannelgraph and children’s songs. In my mid-teens I decided that Christianity was nonsense and I wanted to search for spirituality elsewhere. The church saw I was losing interest and so gave me a job. I recorded the sermons. I sat at the sound desk with headphones on, mostly listening to Radio 1!
