Evening Star (the beloved disciple)

‘the darkness has lifted’ whispered
the frail evening star
as he held my hand and sought his breath
at the close of another long pondered day, truth
may come, a shone-through moment
when we may understand
that nothing else need be written in the sand
no other stories told, no other takes or mis-takes
except this most elemental of states:
to learn to love and to receive love
to carry love and to become love, so
‘the darkness has lifted’ whispered
the frail evening star
now full of light . . .
