Groups of spoken voices weave crucifixion and resurrection accounts with quotes from Song of Songs and Psalms
Divide your participants into five choral speaking groups. Each chorus speaks their words in unison.

MARY MAGDALENE high voices
JESUS (loud) My God why have you forsaken me?
CHORUS It was noon. It was dark.
MARY M (quietly) Like the darkest night in winter.
JESUS It is finished.
DISCIPLE 1 Jesus is dead.
DISCIPLE 2 This frost of death freezes our hearts.
MARY M The frost scatters like ashes. The flowers wither at the place of the skull
DISCIPLE 2 where there is a garden
DISCIPLE 1 and a tomb unused, nearby and free where we place his body.
JESUS Woman, why are you weeping?
MARY M A garden tomb for the gardener of my soul. His banner of love was over me…but now?
(quietly) I am a winter garden.
DISCIPLE 2 (quietly) Frozen.
DISCIPLE 1 (quietly) Empty.
DISCIPLE 2 (quietly) Alone.
