A Choral Speaking Meditation Script for Easter

Divide your participants into five choral speaking groups. Each chorus speaks their words in unison.
JESUS 1-3 voices
CHORUS mixed voices
DISCIPLE 1 low voices
DISCIPLE 2 mixed voices
MARY MAGDALENE high voices

JESUS (loud) My God why have you forsaken me?
CHORUS It was noon. It was dark.
MARY M (quietly) Like the darkest night in winter.
SILENCE
JESUS It is finished.
SILENCE
DISCIPLE 1 Jesus is dead.
DISCIPLE 2 This frost of death freezes our hearts.
MARY M The frost scatters like ashes. The flowers wither at the place of the skull
DISCIPLE 2 where there is a garden
DISCIPLE 1 and a tomb unused, nearby and free where we place his body.
JESUS Woman, why are you weeping?
MARY M A garden tomb for the gardener of my soul. His banner of love was over me…but now?
SILENCE
(quietly) I am a winter garden.
DISCIPLE 2 (quietly) Frozen.
DISCIPLE 1 (quietly) Empty.
DISCIPLE 2 (quietly) Alone.
SILENCE
