Jonny Wooldridge introduces one charity’s life-changing work with the homeless
PROVIDING HOMES AND SUPPORT for people who would otherwise be homeless in York is the work of the Christian charity Restore (York) Ltd. Founded in 2010, it now has eight properties housing a total of thirty-one tenants at any one time.
Our tenants have a variety of issues, often a combination of mental health difficulties, physical health conditions and addictions. Many have previously found themselves in prison. All are unemployed and homeless when first referred to us. Our ultimate aim for all our tenants is for them to eventually move on from Restore into unsupported accommodation and to be able to commit to regular employment or education.
