Carol Dores tempts our taste buds with her talk of Christmas food
BRAZIL IS WELL KNOWN FOR ITS WHITE SANDY BEACHES, carnival and exotic tropical foods and drinks. However, when it comes to Christmas, the habits are not that dissimilar to Europe. While this may come as a surprise to some, it is a consequence of centuries of European immigration to the new world. First came the Portuguese, who settled in Brazil in 1500, followed by the Dutch, Spanish and more recently (ie early 1900s) the Italians and Germans, and even some English.
