IN 1982 A NEW SPACE FOR WOMEN'S VOICES IN THE CHURCH EMERGED IN EUROPE - the Ecumenical Forum of European Christian Women. Founded at a time of upheaval in Europe, the Forum provided a platform for women from east and west, north and south, to debate signifi cant issues, pray about them and encourage each other to take action. With the spiritual riches of participating denominations, supported by feminist approaches to theology, the Forum represented a longed for vision of a living Christian community of sisters where women could be empowered to share their spirituality and live out their faith in practical ways.
