SCRIPTURE SETS THE BEGINNING OF THE HUMAN STORY IN A GARDEN, the
Garden of Eden, the place of encounter and friendship with God,
from where our fi rst parents were expelled. We have a nostalgia
for that place, for the ideal relationship we enjoyed with God and
with each other, a harmony which extended to all the other
relationships of the created world.
